Copy Editor, TechTarget TechnologyGuide
Newton, MA
TechTarget is seeking a Copy Editor for their TechnologyGuide group. This position will be based in Newton, MA. The Copy Editor will be responsible for reviewing and editing articles for style, grammar, spelling accuracy and consistency before those articles are posted on our web sites. The content to edit will consist of product reviews, news and feature articles. The copy editor must apply good principles of English grammar and style as outlined in the AP Style Book and TechTarget’s own style guide to create high-quality final products. The editor must also correct copy for spelling and punctuation.
Also, the copy editor will take responsibility for maintaining and updating information related to coupons and deals across the sites, assist with checking and inserting links from posted content to product data bases, assist with updating the product databases, and occasionally perform some basic writing and reporting duties. The copyeditor may also be called upon to help with art-related duties, as they apply to both editorial and marketing projects.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide copy editing support for editorial team;
- Update product databases;
- Add coupons and tech deals to the sites, as well as update product data bases;
- Approve user generated content;
- Maintain internal style guide;
- Generate weekly reports on improving writing style and grammar
Knowledge, skills and abilities required:
- Bachelor’s Degree;
- This position requires speed and precision; quick turnaround is essential;
- Candidates must possess excellent English spelling and grammar skills;
- Candidates must be resourceful at finding information online;
- A knowledge of news journalism style is essential;
- Working knowledge of computer technology terms and concepts is desirable;
- Candidates should have at least two years of professional editing experience;
- An eye for detail is important; and,
- Some basic knowledge of HTML markup is desirable
