Product Manager/Senior Product Manager
Needham, MA
To fuel the significant growth of the company, TechTarget is seeking multiple Product Managers or Senior Product Managers for several divisions. At TechTarget, these roles are completely responsible for the product management and product marketing for a division of the company and are directly involved in driving the P&L success of the division.
At TechTarget, the Media Groups work as independent business units, providing the Media Group teams with the ability to make changes and moves that maximize the revenue of the group. The Product Manager or Senior Product Managers for this role will be essential parts of the business unit management, reporting directly to the General Manager/Publisher of the Media Group.
As with most product management/marketing positions, this job has many cross-functional and cross-media responsibilities, but because each Media Group has its own complete team, including sales, the role has real revenue generation responsibility as well.
The primary goal for the role is to drive product sales for the Media Group’s online properties, face-to-face events and other publications by:
- Conceiving, detailing and delivering to market new products specific to the media groups by:
- working with editorial and site marketing to uncover market and audience opportunities,
- provide market feedback to product managers; and,
- analyzing competitor’s activities
- Customizing and making market-relevant the core media products of the company (e.g. webcasts, white paper syndication, branding campaigns, etc.) through special pricing packages, market-relevant descriptions and other means
Developing a market segmentation strategy and developing market specific sales tools and collateral to enable the sales force
Understanding and optimizing the performance of each Media Group’s products (e.g. number of leads, quality of leads, CTR, CPC) to meet customer needs
- Helping sales force to respond to RFPs and develop custom proposals;
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- We are looking for strongly analytical, results-driven, and energetic people. So use the below “requirements” as guidelines but not hard requirements:
- BA required, MBA preferred, but not required;
- Strong marketing and writing experience;
- Strong communications skills;
- A good candidate may have worked in:
- marketing or product management for a high-tech vendor with some outbound marketing experience
- product marketing at a media organization
- web product manager at web product company or transaction-focused commerce site
- We are looking for multiple roles across divisions, so a particular division may give special weight to a candidate that has experience in:
- IT channel marketing or sales
- Windows/Microsoft-centric markets
- IT hardware marketing
- Backup and Storage
- Consumer technology
