Features Writer, TechTarget Storage Media

TechTarget’s Storage Media Group is looking for an experienced writer for SearchStorage.com, an IT portal aimed at storage technology professionals. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of enterprise storage technologies and their impact on IT organizations. The candidate must have a demonstrated history of producing high-quality feature stories on storage technology topics. The candidate must excel at handling multiple assignments, writing on deadline, developing and pursuing original story ideas, and working collaboratively with editors and colleagues. The position requires a writer who can follow a monthly schedule of feature articles that explain storage technologies as well as how to purchase them and how to deploy them.

Essential Job Functions:

• Demonstrate outstanding interviewing, reporting and writing skills;
• Generate original story ideas;
• Develop a wide range of storage user and expert sources;
• Set up a channel for obtaining product information from vendors;
• Produce clear, concise copy on deadline;
• Effectively juggle multiple assignments; and,
• Travel to relevant conferences and trade shows.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

• Minimum of 4 years' IT journalism experience;
• Solid understanding of news/features writing, journalistic ethics and story structure;
• Broad knowledge of information technology industry – segments, trends, dynamics;
• Ability to work in a deadline-driven, team-oriented environment;
• Proven initiative and creativity in finding original stories; and,
• Bachelors degree in journalism, English or related topic.
