Product Marketing Manager, TechTarget Social Media
Needham, MA
To fuel the significant growth of their user community ITKnowledgeExchange.com, TechTarget is seeking a Product Marketing Manager. At TechTarget, these roles are completely responsible for the product management and product marketing for a division of the company and are directly involved in driving the P&L success of the division.
At TechTarget, ITKnowledgeExchange.com works as independent business unit, and works closely with the other media groups to maximize revenue on the site. The Product Marketing Manager for this role will be an essential part of the business unit management, reporting directly to the Vice President of Social Media.
The primary goal for the role is to drive product sales for ITKnowledgeExchange.com by:
- Conceiving, detailing and delivering to market new products specific to the media groups by:
· working with editorial and site marketing to uncover market and audience opportunities,
· provide market feedback to product managers; and,
· analyzing competitor’s activities
- Developing new products and associated collateral to be rolled out to entire sales team.
- Educating sales and clients on the benefits and ROI of social media
- Developing a market segmentation strategy and developing market specific sales tools and collateral to enable the sales force
- Understanding and optimizing the performance of ITKnowledgeExchange.com’s products (e.g. number of content creation, CTR, CPC) to meet customer needs; and,
- Helping sales force to respond to RFPs and develop custom proposals
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- BA required, MBA preferred, but not required;
- Solid understanding of social media and web 2.0 technologies;
- Strong marketing and writing experience, 5 – 8 years marketing experience;
- Strong communications skills - the candidate must have very strong written and verbal communications skills, from writing collateral and presentations through delivering these materials to small and large groups;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Results-driven;
- Knowledge of IT media space; previous media sales experience preferred;
- Ability to make sales calls and add value to sales team with customers;
- Strong marketing instincts; and,
- Ideal candidates may have worked in:
· marketing or product management for a high-tech vendor with some outbound marketing experience
· product marketing at a media organization
· web product manager at web product company or transaction-focused commerce site
