News & Features Editor, TechTarget Enterprise Applications Media

TechTarget is seeking an experienced news and features editor to cover the SAP, ERP and enterprise applications markets. This position requires writing three to four articles every week, contributing to blogs and other social media, producing multimedia content and working closely with our editorial team and news director on related site projects and freelance assignments.

The news and features editor will keep abreast of industry news and trends – and will develop and maintain close relationships with industry end users, experts and analysts. Articles may take the form of industry trend stories, breaking news, case studies, tutorials, eBooks or other original material relevant to SAP and enterprise applications professionals. The writer will focus on the SAP and ERP markets, but may be asked to produce content for existing or other sites within the enterprise applications group, and should be comfortable working in a ‘general assignment’ capacity covering the applications market. Candidates should have experience covering a technology beat and aptitude for learning about technical concepts and writing for a technical audience. Candidates should also have experience developing sources, editing copy, working with freelancers, leveraging social media and producing content for e-newsletters, multimedia (podcasts and video) and blogs. The ideal candidate has existing knowledge of SAP and business applications markets. Several times each year the editor will travel to appropriate trade shows and conferences across the US. The editor is also expected to conduct quarterly site visits and attend regional user groups and events.

Essential Job Functions:

• Covering an established beat and developing strong article/content ideas;
• Reporting on industry trends and breaking news stories and writing analysis pieces, features and other types of content
• Using content management and other production systems to manage and post online copy
• Producing multimedia projects monthly or as assigned
• Working with social media and online communities
• Covering relevant trade shows and conferences

Knowledge, skills and abilities desired:

• Minimum of five years' reporting experience, preferably covering the high-tech industry;
• Knowledge of the basic fundamentals and ethics of news writing and editing; Familiarity with AP style;
• An ability to develop and maintain industry contacts for sources and story development;
• Ability to produce clear, concise copy; editing experience a plus;
• Strong organizational skills; Ability to hit tight deadlines;
• Experience with online production systems, multimedia systems and social media platforms; and,
• An undergraduate or graduate degree in journalism or English.
