Senior News Writer, TechTarget Security Media

The Security Media Group is looking for an experienced senior news writer to cover the security market. The senior news writer will report to the news editor and will be responsible for maintaining the high standards of quality and production for which the Security Media Group is known. This is an opportunity to cover the most dynamic and interesting sector of the IT industry and join the most experienced news team in the industry.

Essential Job Functions:

• The senior news writer will keep abreast of the latest market developments through an established list of industry contacts;
• Each week he or she will write roughly five original stories, contribute to the group’s blog about developments in the security industry and work with the news editor on podcasts and video projects as needed;
• The site's news stories include breaking news, Q&A interviews, news analysis, case studies and investigative stories; and,
• But the main focus will be on unique, strategic stories that readers won’t find on our competitors’ sites.

Knowledge, skills and abilities required:

• Bachelor’s degree;
• The ideal candidate has experience covering a technology beat, knowledge of the issues affecting the work of security professionals on a daily basis, and a familiarity with content-management systems, podcasts, and blogs;
• Our audience is a sophisticated one that is looking for the most relevant and insightful information available to help them protect their employers’ networks;
• The senior news writer must have the ability to develop strong relationships with end users as well as industry sources to cultivate the kind of stories our readers expect; and,
• Several times each year the writer will travel to trade shows and conferences to cover market developments.
