Social Media Manager

TechTarget is seeking a Social Media Manager to implement and execute social media best practices across the TechTarget network of sites and launch and maintain a user generated content community based of the ITKnowledgeExchange.com platform. At TechTarget, this role will be responsible for overall success of our new user community and working with sales, marketing and editorial on implementing social media practices to increase readership and engagement for the TechTarget network of sites. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Social Media.
The primary goal for the role is to plan and launch a successful user community and increase engagement across TechTarget sites.
Essential job functions:
- Creating and writing a business plan for our new user community and working with marketing and IT to ensure a successful launch;
- Using community building best practices to ensure growth of the community;
- Tracking metrics and engagement against goals;
- Staying current with latest web 2.0 technologies and determining the best way to use them;
- Identifying and engaging with key influencers in specific market segments;
- Working with editorial, sales and marketing on Twitter best practices and tracking results;
- Educating key company employees on the benefits of social media and working with them to ensure proper implementation;
- Maintaining a blog about best practices with social media in the B2B space; and,
- Become a thought leader within the company.
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- BA required, MBA preferred, but not required;
- Solid understanding of social media and web 2.0 technologies;
- Proven success in building a user community from ground zero;
- Ability to maintain a blog;
- Solid understanding of twitter;
- Proven ability to track metrics against goals;
- Strong marketing and writing experience, 3-5 years marketing experience;
- Strong communications skills - the candidate must have very strong written and verbal communications skills, from writing collateral and presentations through delivering these materials to small and large groups;
- Strong analytical skills;
- Results-driven;
- Strong marketing instincts; and,
- A good candidate may have worked in:
- Worked as a community manager at a B2B or B2C company
- Social media manager at another company
