TechTarget to Lead Expert Panel on the Consumerization of IT at the 2012 International CES

Findings from TechTarget’s Media Consumption Research Will Fuel Discussion around Consumerization Trends

TechnologyGuide™, a division of TechTarget, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTGT), today announced it will host a session, titled The Consumerization of IT: How Consumer Innovation Is Influencing Business, at the 2012 International CES® on January 11 in Las Vegas. This session, which starts at 9am in Room N260 of the Las Vegas Convention Center, will examine the core aspects of consumerization and its impact on current information technology (IT) and business infrastructures. The “consumerization of IT” has become the term that defines the introduction of technologies into the enterprise that were initially considered as solely in the domain of the consumer.

Panelists, including senior IT professionals from Citrix, Verizon, Quickoffice, and SAP’s CIO, Oliver Bussman, will discuss trends and identify key areas of opportunity as companies look to consumerization to become more competitive and responsive to customer demands. They will discuss and present findings from a recent TechTarget Media Consumption Research report based on more than 4,000 respondents. This report outlines the changing dynamics of online media and product selection within technology businesses as consumerization takes hold, as well as the increasing similarities and overlaps with buying trends within the consumer market.

The session will also examine the extent to which innovative consumer technology products, like the Apple® iPad®, are being integrated into company IT networks and the ramifications of this trend. Panelists will detail the challenges and security concerns of using consumer products in a business environment and identify other consumer products with enterprise potential.

“Understanding consumerization is of great importance to any company trying to maintain a secure infrastructure,” said TechTarget CEO, Greg Strakosch. “With our leading editorial sites of SearchConsumerization.com™,ConsumerizeIT.com™, the TechnologyGuide family of sites, and more than 100 other technology specific websites, TechTarget is in a unique position to help technology vendors reach their audience and help technology professionals solve their business technology challenges,” continued Strakosch.
