Cynthia Brumfield is a veteran communications and technology analyst who writes about cybersecurity for several leading publications, as well as her newsletter, Metacurity. Her work has received numerous Azbee awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors over the years.

She founded DCT Associates, a strategic advisory services firm, in 2012 and was previously director of research at the Utilities Telecom Council. She has extensive experience in developing and analyzing government, business, financial and corporate decision-making policies in the cybersecurity, communications, technology, content and energy industries.

Brumfield has a Master of Planning degree from the University of Virginia and is the author of the widely used Wiley textbook, Cybersecurity Risk Management: Mastering the Fundamentals Using the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. She is working on a new book on the NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 to be published by Wiley in late 2025.
