Chief Digital Officer, GE Power

Steven Martin joined GE in Oct. 2016 as vice president and chief digital officer for GE Power.

With the goal of developing end-to-end software and cloud solutions to support Power customers' digitization efforts, Steven is responsible for leading and advancing the business's transversal digital industrial strategy. This includes the activation of product, service and solution roadmaps, and designing new customer experiences and business models.

Prior to joining GE, Steven spent 14 years at Microsoft and was most recently the general manager and chief data scientist for Azure. In this role, Steven was responsible for global operations, customer acquisition and billing, analytics and data science, as well as the underlying data platform for services management. He was responsible for core business growth of over 100% year over year for five consecutive years. He also served as the chief data scientist for the Cloud and Enterprise Division.

Steven previously held several other roles at Microsoft with increasing responsibility, including general manager of business planning and strategy, senior director business operations, server and tools division, the director of product management for Microsoft's platform middleware, .NET and app servers where he drove market share growth from 22% to over 70% and over $4 billion in revenue, and group product manager for e-business.

Prior to Microsoft, Steven held product management and marketing roles with other tech-related businesses. Steven holds a BS in behavioral psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and is an ongoing student of behavioral economics.
