William Webster
Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner for England and Wales
William Webster is the Biometrics and Surveillance Camera Commissioner for England and Wales. He is appointed under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 and provides independent oversight of the collection, use, retention and destruction of biometrics by police forces and of their compliance, along with local authorities, with the Surveillance Camera Code of Practice. He is Professor of Public Policy and Management at the University of Stirling and was an inaugural Director of CRISP, the Centre for Research into Information, Surveillance and Privacy.
