Ed Scannell is an award-winning journalist and editor with more than 40 years of experience covering enterprise technology. His expertise spans enterprise hardware, AI data governance and cloud computing.

Currently working as a freelancer, Scannell served as a news writer and editor at TechTarget. He also worked at InfoWorld and Computerworld, specializing in IBM and Microsoft coverage. As Redmond’s editor, he led editorial direction for the Microsoft IT community publication.

He started his career as a reporter at daily newspapers in Massachusetts, including the Boston Herald American, where he wrote features and covered education news, including school integration policies and their impact on communities statewide.

Scannell’s reporting for technical publications earned multiple Azbee Awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors and a nomination for best investigative feature from the Jesse H. Neal Awards. His investigative reporting during his newspaper reporting career earned recognition from the New England Associated Press News Executives Association and the New England Newspaper & Press Association.

He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Suffolk University.
