Taleo
Taleo is a cloud-based talent management software vendor that was acquired by Oracle in February 2012.
Taleo was founded in 1999 as Recruitsoft and adopted its present name in 2004. Originally a recruitment software vendor, the company gradually expanded into other areas of talent management. Taleo was considered a leader in talent management before its acquisition, due in part to its strong social media analytics capabilities. Experts regarded the Oracle move as a response to SAP's December 2011 acquisition of SuccessFactors.
Oracle offers two versions of the Taleo suite, one for enterprises and one for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The suite encompasses modules for recruiting, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, succession planning and compensation management.
More than 5,000 customers use Taleo software, including roughly half the businesses in the Fortune 100. The company is headquartered in Dublin, Calif.
