Updated hybrid cloud backup available from Pure Storage

In an effort to provide users with unified backup across multiple environments, Pure Storage has expanded its Evergreen Storage Service to provide a hybrid cloud backup system.

Pure Storage has expanded its Evergreen Storage Service in an effort to provide customers with a unified subscription model across hybrid environments.

The unified subscription allows organizations to use Pure Storage's storage-as-a-service software on premises, hosted and in the cloud without having to manage multiple subscriptions. The Evergreen Storage Service (ES2) for backup data has a flash-to-flash-to-cloud architecture that provides storage as a service for block, file, object and backup data. With the unified subscription model, customers can move all or any portion of their pay-per-use block storage capacity between environments without adjusting their contract.

The new storage-as-a-service product combines backup and storage with predictable recovery performance compared to traditional purpose-built backup appliance-based architectures, according to Pure Storage. Pure also claims that ES2's flexible infrastructure and cloud economics save clients money in comparison to legacy disk-to-disk-to-tape approaches. Pure Storage also claims that the new Evergreen product's integrated tool sets simplify and speed up cloud migrations. In addition, Pure Storage claims customers can start anywhere on the spectrum -- on premises, hosted or in the cloud -- and still move data in any direction.

Additionally, Pure Storage introduced Pure1 VM Analytics, a cloud-based analytics tool that allows IT storage admins to identify the root cause of performance issues through single-pane-of-glass visibility. Hybrid cloud backup is a continually growing market as users look for ways to secure both on-premises and cloud data. Companies such as Rubrik, Cohesity and Arcserve have all created hybrid backups with the goals of increasing visibility of data, acting as disaster recovery and acting as backup for physical and virtual platforms.
