Dell EMC NetWorker

Dell EMC NetWorker is a backup software platform for the enterprise.

NetWorker is designed to back up data from a variety of systems across an organization. The software can create backups of data on SAN, NAS, and DAS systems as well as physical and virtual servers to a variety of backup targets including tape drives and libraries, virtual tape libraries, disk arrays, deduplicating disk systems, and cloud storage.

Dell EMC NetWorker offers support for Windows, Mac OS, OpenVMS and Linux/Unix operating systems. The software can also protect application data on platforms such as Oracle, SAP, Lotus, Informix, Sybase, Microsoft Exchange Server, SharePoint and SQL Server, using application-specific plug-ins. NetWorker is integrated with Dell EMC's Data Domain and Dell EMC Avamar storage systems for data deduplication, and NetWorker PowerSnap module allows users to create policy based point-in-time snapshots using Dell EMC storage arrays.

EMC acquired NetWorker when it purchased Legato Systems in 2003. Its competitors include IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, Symantec NetBackup and CommVault Simpana..
