Samsung Notebook 9 Pro 2-in-1 impresses with specs and looks

Other business laptops look downright drab next to the newly redesigned Samsung Notebook 9 Pro 2-in-1, which also has the specs to compete with those Windows 10 workhorses.

Samsung is finally stepping up its laptop game with the latest iteration of its flagship Samsung Notebook 9 Pro 2-in-1. With a design distinct from the plastic build of previous iterations, this new Samsung Windows 10 laptop could be a flashy alternative to the drab business offerings from Dell and HP.

This 2-in-1 device features an 8th Gen Intel Core i7-8565U processor, 8 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and a 256 GB PCIe NVMe SSD, which are typical specs for a high-end laptop. The Notebook 9 Pro is thin, measuring .55 inches thick, and weighs 2.84 pounds, according to Samsung, with an aluminum chassis. As with any decent business laptop, it has a backlit keyboard and plenty of inputs, including two Thunderbolt 3 USB-C ports, a standard USB-C port, a 3.5mm jack and a microSD card slot. The power button doubles as a Windows Hello fingerprint reader.

The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro ships with the Samsung Active Pen, which is larger and bulkier than the traditional Samsung S Pen. This might make it a more comfortable stylus, but Samsung had to sacrifice an in-device docking slot.

The Samsung Notebook 9 Pro 2-in-1 has a 13.3-inch display, with thin bezels, and a 1080 x 1920 FHD resolution. That's low compared to other premium notebooks on the market, but Samsung possibly skimped on the pixels to guarantee longer battery life. To that end, Samsung promises 14 hours of power from its 55Wh fast-charging battery.

The new Samsung Notebook 9 Pro 2-in-1 features an impressive new redesign with a 'cool metal exterior and fashionable diamond-cut edges.'

One of the most notable changes from the previous versions of the Notebook 9 Pro is the complete overhaul in design. Ditching the old sloped and plastic look for a "cool metal exterior and fashionable diamond-cut edges," the Samsung Notebook 9 Pro 2-in-1 "is perfect for creators looking for a top-of-the-line PC that doesn't sacrifice style for performance," according to the company.

Samsung has yet to announce a release date and a price for the new Notebook 9 Pro, but claimed it would arrive in early 2019.
