ICD-11
The International Classification of Disease, Eleventh Revision (ICD-11) is a system of medical coding created by the World Health Organization (WHO) for documenting diagnoses, diseases, signs and symptoms and social circumstances.
Building upon its predecessor, ICD-10, it incorporates medical findings and data that have been discovered since the release of ICD-10 in 1992. The revision is currently available in alpha and is due to be released to the public in 2015.
ICD-11 will incorporate a more interactive Web platform, with daily updates and a search site, to help physicians call upon codes more easily. In addition, ICD-11 will be released in multiple languages, unlike the purely English release of ICD-10. The WHO has stated that ICD-11 will be electronic health record (EHR) ready.
