SuccessFactors MetaData Framework

The SuccessFactors Metadata Framework is Web-based software that gives SuccessFactors users the ability to create and maintain custom objects, screens and business rules to extend the platform’s functionality. This capability is primarily available for SuccessFactors Employee Central but is also partially available for Compensation and Succession.

SuccessFactors is a cloud-based human resources information system (HRIS) system. The company was acquired by SAP in 2011.

According to the vendor, business analysts can already make basic changes to the logic and structure of SuccessFactors applications, such as altering the name and order of field labels, or how compensation is calculated, by using the configuration layer, for which no coding is required. This is possible because SuccessFactors applications are architected using an object data model.

The SuccessFactors Metadata Framework allows deeper changes by providing a generic object that is completely defined in the metadata, according to SuccessFactors. Business analysts can define objects, fields, behaviors, business logic, and the look and feel of the application through a Web-based user interface, again without coding, the vendor claims.
