VMware names winners for Modern Application Innovators in Global Customer Achievement Awards

Application innovation is a driving force for transformative organizational outcomes, and that often is defined by an organization’s ability to use a cloud-first, cloud-smart approach to application development and delivery. According to TechTarget’s Enterprise Strategy Group, moving to a public cloud—typically multiple clouds—is essential for delivering innovative applications.1

The research firm says this more innovative approach to application development speeds time to value, creates a more agile foundation for business stakeholders, and takes complexity and friction out of the process of building and delivering modern applications, among other critical benefits. As part of its 2023 Customer Achievement Awards program, VMware has recognized winners in the Americas, Asia/Pacific/Japan (APJ), and Europe/Middle East/Africa regions for the Modern Application Innovator category.

Americas Region: OSDE
OSDE, Argentina’s largest medical services company, was cited for its cloud-smart approach to modern application development and delivery, which allowed the organization to provide greater value to its clients more quickly while reducing complexity and improving the user experience for partners and providers.

In its efforts to ensure regulatory compliance and enable a highly secure application development platform, OSDE implemented a number of VMware solutions to drive its modern application development and delivery. These included VMware Horizon for desktop and application virtualization and VMware Cloud Foundation with VMware Tanzu, which combines hyperconverged infrastructure technology and an enterprise-ready Kubernetes environment.

Using those tools, OSDE created a robust online platform that acts as a catalog for a wide range of virtual healthcare services, streamlining the development of new technological products while enabling the company to be the innovator in its industry, guaranteeing quality to its partners and providers. The modernization program reduced technical complexity, increased efficiency for developers, improved employee experiences and enabled sophisticated automation to minimize error rates in tasks such as application and cluster Kubernetes management.

APJ Region: PSA International
PSA International operates Singapore’s flagship port, which also is a key logistics hub for all of Asia. It handles the equivalent of 37 million 20-foot-long containers each year, and PSA realized it needed to make major upgrades to its infrastructure in order to scale IT capabilities in line with their expanding business requirements.

A VMware customer for more than a decade, PSA teamed with VMware to modernize their application solution set. PSA deployed VMware Tanzu Application Services and VMware Cloud Foundation on VxRail to run their main port applications. This improved efficiency and enabled developers to focus on new applications instead of simply managing day-to-day application tasks.

As a result, they were well positioned to transition to even more ambitious modernization efforts based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as to update key legacy applications for terminal operations and business collaboration throughout other business partners in the Singapore port. These steps further increased application modernization velocity, improved platform stability, upskilled their workforce, and accelerated business outcomes with stepped-up innovation.

EMEA Region: Bank Julius Bar
As a Switzerland-based banking leader, Bank Julius Bar has made developing, deploying, and optimizing new applications a hallmark of its efforts to manage its clients assets as a trusted advisor. In business for more than 130 years, Bank Julius Bar has committed itself to digitization in order to improve operational efficiency and speed the creation of modern applications.

As part of its use of rapid application development techniques, Bank Julius Bar realized it needed to foster greater collaboration among its developers in order to speed development time while reducing application development costs. To make that a reality, the bank turned to VMware Tanzu Labs to enable improved application integration in an increasingly complex technical environment that prospers on speed and innovation.

Working with VMware helped Bank Julius Bar to speed development, improve application reliability and consistency, and work from a stable, standardized development environment. This has enabled Bank Julius Bar developers to bring new applications to its business stakeholders, and in turn to its banking customers, in order to support a wider array of financial services.

The 2023 VMware Customer Achievement Awards program is conducted in partnership with TechTarget’s Enterprise Strategy Group. Entries were reviewed, evaluated and ranked by a panel of judges comprising ESG analysts, TechTarget editors, independent industry experts and VMware executives.
