Risk & Repeat: Zoom security comes under fire

Listen to this podcast

This week's Risk & Repeat podcast looks at several security issues Zoom faced over the last week, which led to questions about the company's privacy and security practices.

This week's Risk & Repeat podcast discusses a number of Zoom security issues that came to light this week.

Adoption of Zoom's video conferencing software has exploded in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The company is facing a lawsuit after a Motherboard report revealed the Zoom iOS app was sending user and device data to Facebook, even if the users did not have a Facebook account.

There were also reported incidents of "Zoombombing," where unauthorized users gain access to and hijack private Zoom calls. And, in addition to reports of zero-day vulnerabilities, the company came under fire when an analysis of Zoom's software by The Intercept revealed the application did not support end-to-end encryption, despite previous claims.

In this episode, SearchSecurity editors Rob Wright and Alex Culafi discuss these Zoom security issues, as well as comments from former Facebook CSO Alex Stamos, who criticized the coverage of Facebook's data collection.
