American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA)

The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) is a group of individuals from myriad disciplines who convene in the interest of improving health informatics as it relates to patient care, teaching, research and related aspects of health care policy. The group’s 4,000 members include physicians, pharmacists, educators, consultants and government officials.

The AMIA and its associated college, the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI), have provided more than 30 years of education and opinions concerning the policies behind health care. Among its projects, the AMIA produces the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association.

AMIA functions as the American chapter of the greater International Medical Informatics Association, which exists to help ultimately improve the health of people on a global scale.
