Mark Schlack, Vice President, Editorial

Mark Schlack has covered the use of technology in business for 23 years, concentrating on computer technology for the last 16 years. He began his high-tech career as network editor at Datamation, where he later became editor. Following that, he was the editor in chief of BYTE magazine, where he was responsible for both print and Web versions of the magazine, both domestically and internationally. He also served as VP/content for EarthWeb and VP/editorial for ITworld.com. Mark has been the recipient of a number of publishing awards, including a Jesse H. Neal Award and Certificate and several ASBPE and Folio awards. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan. He resides in Cambridge, Mass.

Rich Castagna, Editorial Director, Storage Media

Rich Castagna oversees content for SearchStorage.com, SearchDataBackup.com, SearchSMBStorage.com and Storage Decisions conferences. Rich has been involved with high-tech journalism for nearly 20 years; previously, he was executive editor of ZDNet Tech Update and Cnet Enterprise; editor in chief of Windows Systems magazine; senior editor for Windows magazine, and senior editor and technical editor for PC Sources. In those roles, and as a freelancer, Rich has written more than 500 computer technology articles.

Kelley A. Damore, Editorial Director, Security Media

Kelley Damore oversees editorial operations and strategy for all Security Media Group properties, including SearchSecurity.com, Information Security Decisions conference and custom editorial and media events. She has covered the IT industry for 18 years and has won numerous editorial awards, including Jesse H. Neal, ASBPEs and TABPI awards. She previously worked at CMP Media as editor-in-chief of CRN. Kelley has also held writing positions as InfoWorld and PC Week. She came to TechTarget from non-profit Oxfam America, where she was the director of its publications and online operations. Kelley holds a bachelor's degree from the College of the Holy Cross and a master's degree from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government.

Susan Fogarty, Editorial Director, Networking Media

Susan Fogarty plans and oversees editorial strategy and operations for the Networking Media Group. She works closely with the editorial team to keep the sites focused on the information needs of IT and telecom professionals. Fifteen years of experience in technology media covering networking and telecommunications has given Susan insight into the issues technology professionals face and helps her to develop the best content for the group's Web sites and events. Susan's prior experience includes several posts in PennWell Publishing's advanced communications group. She has worked on TechTarget's networking sites since joining the company in 2000.

Cathleen A. Gagne, Editorial Director, Data Center/Virtualization Media

Cathleen Gagne plans and oversees strategy and operations for the Data Center and Virtualization Media Group. She works closely with the editorial team to keep the many sites focused on the information needs of IT professionals. Previously, she was the editorial director for the Channel Media Group and online editorial director for SearchStorage.com. In her 10 years at TechTarget, Cathy has also launched and operated three websites: SearchWin2000.com, SearchSecurity.com and SearchMobileComputing.com. Prior to TechTarget, she worked at Computerworld, holding positions such as careers editor, senior editor and assistant department editor for the technology section.

Brian Madden, Editorial Director, founder of BrianMadden.com

Brian Madden is known throughout the world as an opinionated, super technical, fiercely independent desktop virtualization expert. He's written several books and over 1,000 articles about desktop and application virtualization. His blog receives millions of visitors per year and is a leading source for conversation, debate, and discourse about the application and desktop virtualization industry. Brian is also the creator of BriForum, the premier independent application delivery technical conference.

Anne McCrory, Editorial Director, CIO/IT Strategy Media

Anne McCrory brings 16 years' IT journalism experience and an MBA to the position of editorial director for CIO/IT Strategy Media Group, which publishes SearchCIO.com and SearchCIO-Midmarket.com. She also emcees the highly rated CIO Decisions Conference and spearheads the group's primary research efforts. As a founding editor of CIO Decisions magazine, she led the team in winning more than 30 awards in journalism excellence. Prior to joining TechTarget in 2004, Anne worked in event marketing, public relations and strategy consulting, and spent 10 years as an editor at Computerworld. Earlier in her career she was a daily newspaper journalist and freelancer for such publications as The Hartford Courant, The Boston Globe and Newsweek. She holds an MBA with honors from Boston University.

Hannah Smalltree, Editorial Director, Enterprise Applications Media

Hannah Smalltree manages editorial strategy, daily operations and events for SearchCRM.com, SearchSAP.com, SearchOracle.com, SearchDataManagement.com and SearchManufacturingERP.com. She is responsible for maintaining the sites' editorial excellence, keeping news and resources firmly focused on the unique needs of IT and business professionals. Previously, she was SearchDataManagement.com's senior site editor and a frequent contributor and podcaster. Earlier, Hannah gained 10+ years of relevant experience as a journalist, writer and product/program manager at technology companies. She brings practical experience to her role as editorial director, and is dedicated to providing exceptional resources for enterprise applications professionals.

Peter Varhol, Editorial Director, Application Development Media

Peter Varhol oversees the operation of all Application Development websites and events, including TheServerSide.com, Ajaxian.com, SearchSOA.com and the Java Symposium. He has worked for 20 years in high technology in a variety of roles in the computer press, in education, and in the software industry. Most recently, Pete has worked as executive editor for Redmond Magazine and editor in chief of FTPOnline. In those positions, he covered Web and .NET technology extensively. He also sits on the board of the Eclipse Foundation. Prior to that he was the enterprise Java columnist for JavaPro magazine from 2000-06. During that time, he also worked in the software industry, most notably as product manager for Compuware Corp.'s NuMega Lab, which manufactures software test tools. Prior to that he was the lab manager for the Taylor Center for Thin Client Computing. Pete has also worked in the media as a senior editor for Computer Design and a technical editor for Personal Workstation. He taught computer science at Rivier College from 1991-96 and was a research scientist in computing at the American Institutes for Research from 1985-1988. Pete has a master's degree in both computer science and applied mathematics from the University of Lowell. He also served as a captain in the United States Air Force from 1979-85.
