TechTarget Partners with Google for Research Project on the Relationship of the IT Buying Process to Search Habits in the United Kingdom

Technology media company TechTarget, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTGT) announced today it will be extending its Google research partnership with a new report examining the buying process and research of IT buyers across the United Kingdom.

The all new Google/TechTarget Research Project: UK Edition will be released on May 19th in a special invitation-only event at Google UK headquarters in London. The report, which will be made available publicly shortly after this event, is designed for advertising agencies and IT marketers who purchase online search keywords or media, manage online strategies, or need to better understand the dynamics between online search and the research and purchase process used by UK-based IT buyers.

This UK-specific data reflects an extension of the research – and complete re-fielding of the survey – conducted between Google and TechTarget U.S. operations in 2008. The joint research project examines the online search behaviours of enterprise IT buyers when researching and purchasing technology solutions.

“The strong, positive reception of our first report combined with TechTarget’s ability to deliver a high-quality UK based IT audience to serve as the foundation of this new research made the decision to continue this partnership in new regions an easy choice for both partners,” said Bill Crowley, Senior Vice President, International and manager of TechTarget’s London-based operations. “The 1,100 respondents to this online survey make it what we believe is the most comprehensive research project examining the online search behaviours and habits of enterprise IT buyers in the UK.”

Sample data and demographics:

  • 97% of IT buyers use search frequently during purchase process
  • 70% click the links of unfamiliar advertisers
  • 38% acknowledge reading search advertising
  • 1,100+ respondents from opt-in IT Research Panel
  • 90% technical job titles
  • 10% business job titles
  • 100% decision makers

The Google/TechTarget UK research results are based on the participation of more than 1,100 IT business and technical decision makers from TechTarget’s all opt-in IT Research Panel in the United Kingdom who answered 40 in-depth online survey questions about their online search practices and preferences.
