What is involved in a network audit?

My company is performing a network audit through an external auditor for the first time. I will be supporting the auditor. Generally, what is involved in a network audit?
In general, good companies do the following:
  1. Assess the organization's needs
  2. Develop policies to meet these needs
  3. Implement these policies
  4. Train the employees accordingly
  5. Perform an audit to ensure the above items are in compliance.
