VMware Horizon View

VMware Horizon View is the virtual desktop host platform for vSphere.

VMware Horizon View now comes bundled with VMware Mirage and Horizon Workspace in the VMware Horizon Suite. Horizon View's close integration with vSphere aims to improve virtual desktop infrastructures (VDIs) and support bring your own device (BYOD) programs.

Version 5.2 is SAML-aware and features a new HTML5 client with Blast (formerly AppBlast) which allows Horizon to deliver full desktops to users' browsers. VMware is also providing a touchscreen interface on Horizon View clients.

The platform also uses space efficiently through the SE Sparse disk format and provides native platform graphics processing unit (GPU) support for 3D graphics acceleration. It also features AppShift technology, which introduces gestures and UI changes that make it easier to use Windows and Windows desktop applications on touch-based devices, and support for the Nvidia Virtual Graphics Platform and Microsoft Lync communicator.
