VMware Integrated OpenStack (VMware VIO)

VMware Integrated OpenStack (VMware VIO) is an OpenStack distribution tested and supported by VMware for companies that want to deploy and manage a private cloud on top of their vSphere infrastructure. VMware VIO aims to simplify the deployment of an OpenStack cloud by providing developers with OpenStack APIs to access the VMware virtualized infrastructure.

VMware provides the customer with an open virtualization format (OVF) package that is deployed in the vSphere Web Client to add a vCenter plugin to the OpenStack. By default, VMware VIO is configured with VMware High Availability through an automated setup.

VMware also provides technical support for VMware VIO if users have an issue with the OpenStack distribution.

VMware announced VMware VIO  at VMworld 2014.
