Intelligent workload management (IWM)

Intelligent workload management (IWM), also called smart workload management, is an approach to running IT systems that incorporates machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to make effective use of computing resources.

Workload refers to the amount of processing that a computer is tasked with completing at a given time. The management of a workload is deemed "intelligent" when it can self-identify necessary processing needs and security protocols; determine the capacity at which it can best perform its given tasks; and is fully integrated into business services in such a way that its processing work does not interfere with other organizational computing efforts.
