Nutanix Acropolis

Nutanix Acropolis is an operating system for the Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure platform. It contains a number of data services and features for data protection, space efficiency, scalability, automated data tiering and security.  Acropolis comes with its own built-in hypervisor called AHV; the name was derived from the words Acropolis Hypervisor.

Nutanix Acropolis and the AHV hypervisor were both launched at Nutanix's .NEXT user conference in June 2015. Although the AHV hypervisor is based on Linux KVM, Nutanix hyper-converged storage also supports VMware and Hyper-V. Acropolis platform customers have the option of using the AHV hypervisor alone or alongside another hypervisor, using the Acropolis App Mobility Fabric (AMF) to move virtual machine workloads between hypervisors and different runtime environments.

Unlike competing vendors, Nutanix offers Acropolis as part of the hyper-converged platform with no licensing costs.
