Archiving and backup
Archiving and backup are often considered the same, but there are important differences between them. Data archiving is the process of moving data that is no longer actively used to a separate data storage device for long-term data retention. Different than data backups, which are copies of data kept in case the original copy is lost or destroyed, data archiving systems often free up primary data storage space and help reduce overall data storage costs. Learn about the differences between data archiving and data backup. Read about the different types of data archiving tools, including email archiving and database archiving tools.
