Oracle Big Data Appliance

Oracle Big Data Appliance is a converged hardware and software platform for big data that can be used to capture and analyze data from a wide variety of sources. 

Oracle Big Data Appliance is designed to integrate all enterprise data, whether it is structured or unstructured. The major components of Oracle Big Data Appliance are Oracle Exadata, Oracle Exalytics, Oracle Cloudera Enterprise and, starting in version X4-2, Oracle Big Data Connectors. 

Oracle Big Data Appliance is optimized to run both batch processing jobs and interactive applications. It uses Apache Hadoop's MapReduce framework to provide its batch capabilities and allow for linear scaling. There are multiple options for interactive applications including Oracle NoSQL, Cloudera Impala, Cloudera Search and Apache Spark.

The Oracle Big Data Appliance uses Oracle Big Data Connectors to simplify big data analytics and data integration and provide high speed access to Hadoop from Oracle Exadata or Oracle Database. With Big Data Connectors, Oracle Big Data Appliance can reach a data transfer rate (DTR) of 15 TB per hour. The connectors also provide native access to Hadoop and facilitate parallel processing using the Oracle R Distribution. Oracle Big Data Appliance also runs Oracle xQuery for Hadoop.
