AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional

AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional certification is a category of technical certifications offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS) for professionals who design applications and systems using the AWS platform and who have professional experience deploying AWS cloud architecture.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional is the second level of certification, one step above the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate. AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional covers more advanced skills for deploying and designing applications on AWS, as well as advanced topics ranging from databases and application servers to optimal system design. Like certified Associates, certified Professionals are also skilled in several AWS products and related services, including:

  • identity access management (IAM)
  • Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)
  • Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2)
  • autoscaling and load balancing
  • serverless websites
  • Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS)
  • DynamoDB
  • Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC)

Professionals can become certified as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional by taking a designated exam once they have obtained an Associate certificate.

To prepare for this exam, candidates can attend preparation classes, purchase exam guides, or apply real world practice. AWS also provides a practice exam. The exam consists of 50 questions. Candidates have 170 minutes to complete the exam. The passing score is subject to change but usually is 80%. The cost to take the exam is $300, while training courses and supplementary materials are an additional cost.
