Amazon Go
Amazon Go is an e-commerce mobile application that enables consumers to purchase items in physical stores without waiting in lines or checking out with registers. Amazon Go uses machine learning, sensor technology, machine vision and artificial intelligence (AI) similar to that found in self-driving cars.
Amazon's version of this technology, which it has dubbed "Just Walkout Technology," uses smart sensors and an Amazon Go mobile app on the shopper's phone to identify which items a consumer has removed from a shelf. The app can also determine if the consumer changes his or her mind and returns the item to the shelf. When the shopper leaves the store with purchases, Amazon charges the shopper's Amazon account and sends a receipt.
Amazon Go targets retail use cases, such as grocery stores, for the time being. The first store has launched in Seattle, where Amazon is headquartered.
